a song I kept in rotation the last few days of 2022:
Overall, 2022 was a fantastic year. I’ve been thinking about it since we entered 2023, then read a post by Lisa Olivera that inspired me to make a list. A list on all I learned throughout the year for myself to have up to read/see visually to make it feel more “real.”
It was truly a year of a lot of personal growth, and I am not afraid to say I’m proud of myself!
And to make it even more “real,” I’m now sharing this list online for you all :)
I learned:
to trust myself.
to allow myself to be vulnerable.
to talk to my mother.
to appreciate time with loved ones.
to truly love myself.
writing in a public space isn’t as scary as I thought it’d be; it’s liberating.
about the impact I have / have had on people from my past and present.
the importance of communication and emotional intelligence.
setting and accepting boundaries.
to heal and forgive.
the value of time —seeing it as currency as to not waste it.
to not take negative actions from others personally.
to not be afraid to ask questions as they come to mind.
to stop apologizing for my personality.
to open up to people outside by orbit.
that patience is important, but impatience is also necessary for drive.
making plans is stressful; trust the universe.
where to share my energy and when to protect it.
to identify distractors and time-drainers.
why I am so attracted to artists and enjoy being surrounded by creatives.
I can share my opinions and maintain a private life.
the importance of female friendships.
to allow myself to cry.
to smoke more; drink/say less.
that comedy is how I express the different sides to myself I’ve had a hard time sharing.
that we have 12 ribs on each side. (Also, that there’s science behind weather-related pain from healed fractures. It’s related to drop in barometric pressure. 🤓)
SN: Yes. I went to public school.
my favorite word is “qualms” (plural) because it sounds funny, though definitely not its meaning.
[fun fact: it was something I learned in a conversation with a stranger about the English language on a flight back home. I can’t remember hers at the moment, but it was equally as funny. To us.]
